COMMUNITY LIBRARY PROJECT

The Community Library Project is a bold step toward transforming how local communities access knowledge, digital resources and safe learning environments. The TEIG Foundation is establishing a modern community library designed to serve students, youth and families living around the coastal region.

This library will be located within a growing residential and mixed-use neighborhood, offering more than just books on shelves. It will provide internet access, quiet study spaces and a welcoming atmosphere where learners of all ages can focus, grow and dream. Whether a student needs a place to prepare for exams or a young entrepreneur is looking to research a new idea, the space will be open, inclusive and built for progress.

Beyond academic support, the library is meant to be a local hub for empowerment, a space where knowledge is shared, curiosity is nurtured and long-term development is inspired. By placing the library near the beach and within reach of a wide range of residents, the foundation is creating an anchor of hope, learning and opportunity at the heart of the community.

HEWA SAFI INITIATIVE

Hewa Safi is an environmental clean-up program designed to protect and preserve the natural beauty of our coastline while building a culture of responsibility and collective care. The initiative brings together local villagers, beach operators and members of the community in a shared effort to maintain clean and healthy public spaces along the Diani coastline.

At the heart of the program is a monthly clean-up drive that stretches from Kongo Beach to Galu Beach, covering the full length of one of Kenya’s most iconic coastal regions. Each clean-up day sees different teams from the community step forward to collect waste, sort recyclables and help restore the shoreline, turning environmental action into a habit, not just a one-time event.

Hewa Safi is more than just a clean-up effort. It’s a movement that encourages environmental education, pride in local spaces, and active involvement in sustainable living. By bringing together people from all walks of life, the program helps build awareness around pollution and climate responsibility while creating cleaner beaches for tourism, livelihoods, and the generations to come.

TUNZA MTOTO INITIATIVE

The Tunza Mtoto Initiative is one of the foundation’s flagship programs focused on creating access to education for children from underprivileged backgrounds, with a strong focus on empowering the girl child across the Coast region. We understand that many girls in this region still face major challenges when it comes to staying in school — including poverty, early marriages, cultural limitations and a lack of basic learning resources.

Through this initiative, the foundation offers full and partial scholarships to students in need. But we don’t stop at school fees. We also provide mentorship, personal development support and essential learning materials to help these students stay motivated and thrive academically. We work closely with local schools, teachers and community leaders to identify deserving students and ensure that the support reaches those who need it most.

Our goal is not just to put children in school, but to create an environment where education leads to confidence, self-worth and a better life. When we support a girl through education, we empower an entire family and open up possibilities for a stronger, more resilient community. Tunza Mtoto is our long-term investment in the future of the region, a future where every child has a fair chance to learn, grow and lead.

Disaster Relief Contributions: In times of natural disasters, we provide financial support, resources and materials to affected areas, helping communities rebuild and recover.

The TEIG Foundation supports programs that promote entrepreneurship, job training and skills development, particularly for marginalized groups. By helping individuals and small businesses succeed, we aim to create lasting economic opportunities and uplift communities in need.

The foundation funds economic empowerment programs through internal CSR allocations and collaborations with financial institutions such as banks and mortgage companies. These partners often co-sponsor training, entrepreneurship, or financial literacy initiatives to support wider access to economic opportunities and homeownership.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Building stronger communities is at the heart of our CSR efforts. TEIG Foundation supports initiatives that improve local infrastructure, promote public health and provide essential services to underserved populations. Community development programs are supported through direct company funding and co-investment from supply chain partners. In select projects, the foundation also collaborates with NGOS to scale efforts through joint funding and local outreach.

This initiative is made possible through partnerships with environmentally conscious suppliers, including construction firms and interior designers who co-sponsor sustainability projects as part of their commitment to green development and brand visibility. The foundation also explores joint efforts with non-profits and environmental organizations to access grants and expert support.

Through scholarships, mentorship programs and educational initiatives, the TEIG Foundation strives to provide opportunities for students, teachers and educational institutions to thrive.
